I am seeking chart data on linear expansion coefficients of 304 stainless steel and 5083 aluminum in range of +100°F to -320°F. I am getting differing results from NIST and Expansion Joint Manufacturers Association.

There are several charts from manufacturers of expansion joints listed in their catalogs. One in my bookcase is a chart from -200 F to 1400 F from Power Pipe Supports, Inc.

However the chart I find most handy and use the most is in the Pressure Vessel Handbook published by Pressure Vessel Publishing, Inc. P.O. Box 35365 Tulsa OK 74153. It has expansion listed per 100 feet from -325F to 1500F for CS, SS, Al, Bronze plus other compositions for a total of 10 materials.

I think Marks Hanbook for Mechanical Engineers is also a good standby reference and should have the information.

Good Luck
