Lithium Hydroxide is added to control pH and is kept in a specific band with respect to Boric Acid Concentration. This is in order to control and minimize crud transport as well as your total corrosion rate. The affects of crud transport and deposition can create dose concerns if deposited in the coolant loops or Axial neutron flux anomalies if deposition occurs largely in the core.
