linear and ordinate dimensions

to measuring from an edge to another or edge to the CL of
a diameter located on the inner surface of the plane

On blueprint it has +/- .005" ordinate dimensioning and
+/- .015" linear dimensioning,sample from the edge of a piece of metal to a hole @.750" this seems to me an ordinate dimension rather than from one edge of the piece to the other at dimension 6.50",our dimensions in sheet metal are from the edge of a piece of metal to a hole or holes located within the plane,but if more than one in line say four or five ,are they not linear,because they are in line with one another? Or ordinate because of a specified location of a hole on the plane?
