Levee Cross-Sectional Survey

Hello to everyone, and thank you for providing such a helpful and informative website! I am a very inexperienced land surveyor, and basically have had the job of surveying, and earthwork calculations (using Agtek)thrown into my lap about a year ago. Needless to say, I am still very green. I am currently working on surveying a levee system to see how much material has washed away in recent years due to flooding. I have a copy of the National Levee Database survey completed in 2008, and so my main approach was to import those points into my controller (and setting up on the same control points of course) and stake out to each of them, and shoot my own points directly on top of the NLDB points, thereby determining how much of a difference there is to date. The cross-sections are roughly 1000 ft. apart, so I need a way to best interpolate the data and calculate the differences of each cross section. As I mentioned, I am using Agtek, and I'm having difficulty determining the most accurate way to analyze the data. I realize I am trying to do something that can take years of experience, but I do like a challenge, and my employer seems to put more faith in my ability then I do myself . I can't find any agtek function to just give me a square footage difference between the old and new cross-sections, so that I can then use the average end area method.
