Layout & Assembly Help

I have a layout that drives an assembly. If I want to put in a value in the layout that drives the assembly, the part changes and updates correctly. But if I want to take a dimension from the assembly OR part, say D1 on part X, can I show this value in the layout??

No, you cannot. There is only one way link. Maybe a ProToolkit application can do this but I don't know if tere are API functions for the layout.
