Hi at all
i have got a question, in the analysis procedure of landing gear failure, one of the most common reason is corrosion/corrosion pit. i could not find a reference that analyse the effect of corrosion/corrosion pit on the landing gear strut outer cylinder.
can any one help me by introducing a reference?

A useful approach is to treat the corrosion as an existing defect of known dimensions, then dive into fracture mechanics. That should deal with the question of whether existing corrosion is going to cause you a problem.

If corrosion is still active, you will need to estimate the corrosion rate and combine that with the crack growth. Depending on how conservative you want to be, you can either add the two together or, (working on the assumption that either the crack growth will outrun the corrosion or the corrosion will continually dissolve out the crack tip), take whichever gives the faster growth at any particular instant.

thank you for your guidance. i appreciate that if you name a book or a paper for more specific information

Sorry, the documents I generally refer to for this sort of thing are unpublished.
