Recommendations for journal bearing & pin design: mat'l, pin surface finish & hardness, design contact pressure, lubrication. The draw bar linkage mechanism has very high loads >500,000 lbs and moves very slowly so that velocity and angular travel <30deg between the pins and bushings is very small. Typical practice is to limit the contact pressure=load/(brg dia x brg length) to some limit. Is 4,000-6,000 psi a reasonable limit to minimize wear of either the bushing or the pin? Does anyone have experience with graphite plugged brgs? Recommendation for a type of lubricant or surface finish for this nearly static condition. Thanks
