I recall working with an engineer way back in the day to develop a one dimensional 'FEM' to calculate joint stresses based on the number of rows, layers of material, fastener material, and geometry. It didn't have the fidelity of a full on 3D FEM, but it was fast, pretty easy, and reasonably accurate.
Does anyone here know of an open source version of something like this, either a program, or preferably a spreadsheet. I could probably develop one again, but I'd hate to re-invent the proverbial wheel all over again.
That'll teach me not to back up my HD.....it's one of the few programs I couldn't recover after my last HD crash.
