Hi Eng Tips,

This is my first time posting and happy to have joined this lovely community!

I am currently on the lookout for a method of modelling Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) as an isotropic material in SAP2000.

I have been advised there is a method of converting the orthotropic properties by modelling the CLT as an isotropic material with a reduced depth of the section in software.

I have extensively searched through literature to come across this method but cannot seem to find it.

If anyone knows of this paper/method (I believe its Austrian) are you please able to share :)

Also, if anyone has previously modelled CLT in SAP2000, did you go about just using the orthotropic material model?

Very grateful for any help :)

An isotropic material has a constant modulus of elasticity (E), you can find each of the representing thickness of a layer by equating its E to the E of the main layer, through the relationship of strain/displacement compatibility.
