Hi chaps (and chapesses),

I had to do some modelling whilst away from my office and although i managed to hijack a network license to take with me, I forgot about the (network stored) company templates. I now have the issue where I have used the normal UGS ones, as stored on my local drive, and working with the subsequent parts now I'm back on the beach has been a PITA!!

Is there any way of replacing the template within a part / assembly file?

Cheers for your advice in advance,

Jon

Hi,

only a draft has a template that can be changed (background)
For all others it's just something to have most standard
values including the appropriate toolbars set - nothing more.
So there is nothing to exchange.

For draft templates create a new background sheet in your draft and basically cut and paste the format from your standard template. I believe this was explained in more detail recently.

Dimension Styles etc can be copied from another file into the active file using Format>Style>Organizer
Also works the other way, so if you set up a style that you want available to all you can copy it into the template files etc,

Thanks everyone for their responses.

I am not a massively experienced user and now know I could have done a couple of easy things differently and made my life easier from the start! Doh!

Is it possible to block change every single dimension in a part from one style to another?

I have tried tools / options / dimension style and changing everything in there and applying but to no avail - changes future dimensions, but all existing dimensions remain as is.

Thanks once again,

Jon

Select the dimensions, then in the Style drop-down box change to the style you want.
The new style will be applied.
Be warned that any formatting (such as changing text orientation) that you have applied to individual dimensions may be removed.

Thanks Beachcomber - no way of going into a menu and changing all in one fell swoop, as opposed to selecting each dimension in each sketch?

It's not really applicable to models, more for drafts.
If you did want to change a dimension style in a sketch/profile you would need to go into each sketch to do it, but then you can select dimensions only by using the filter button (between 'Return' & 'Inside' etc) and dragging a box round them.
I'm not even sure if the styles really do anything in model sketches.

Or, you may be able to select whatever style all the dimensions already are (assuming they're all the same) and edit it to meet your needs.
