Is there a minimum distance between guide signs on an off ramp that splits beyond the mainline. I have found suggested spacing for mainline signing in the MUTCD, but nothing that suggests minimum spacing with respect to speed.

ITE's TCD Handbook recommends sign spacing of 5 to 7 times the speed limit, in feet.

Of course, the more complex the message is, the more time drivers will need to read adn comprehend it, so if you have a complex guide sign, you may need even more distance.

I have been trying to find a copy of the TCD handbook with no success. ITE doesn't list it on their website and I can only find brief references to it when searching the internet. Do you know where it is available or do you have the library of congress number, isbn, etc?
