Dear partners,
I'm trying to interface the ABB/Elster Alpha Plus Meter (A2) by modem. I don't really want to use the software provided by Elster (AlphaPlus), but I wish to develope a public library/software to read those kind of meters.
The idea of this thread is recopilate information about the ABB protocol and start making a whitepaper to finally publish here, and help other people.
As I know ABB has a Propiertary Protocol for Alpha A2, and after the Alpha A2 they have launched the A3 with an standard ANSI protocol. Also all the other new products has standard protocols.
Does anyone have an idea of where could we start? Is the protocol based on Modbus, or maybe based on Fieldbus?.
Any comment will be helpful.
