Importing .stp file created multiple part

Hi, great site. Can always find an answer here. thanks.

Issue:
when importing a stp file from my CMM software(Faro) all the features come in under seperate parts and saves as a part file in the directory creating hundreds of files.

question:
1. how to import .stp file as only sufaces and sketch features?
2. how to stop sw from saving all those files autmatically?

Tried:
- importing iges: these workes like i want it too but would like .stp
- every configuration possible in the 'options'
appreciate any help,

When going to File > Open, choose step and click on the options button that appears, you can set some options for how it imports there.

Revisit the Export or Save As sections of the Faro software to see what export options are available.
