Importing cells from Excel

I have an Excel spreadsheet where some cells have text on multiple lines (i.e. the cell contains ALT + ENTER in it). When I try to import this into Project using the mapping tool, only cells that have text on a single line are imported. The rest of the cells appear blank in Project. Does anyone know of a way to configure Project so that it recognizes cell content that has ALT + ENTER in it? If not, does anybody know of any workaround for this?
