Dear experts,

I am still do not understand the implementation of UCS 66 in ASME Section VIII Division 1.

If our plate material need to be impact tested base on this figure does it mean the steel mill need to perform impact test when they produce the plate ?

or

When we make WPS / PQR we need to include the impact test in our PQR coupon?

or

both ?

Your explanation is highly appreciated.

If the material must be impact tested per UCS-66, then it can be ordered from the mill as tested or you can order it untested and cut a coupon and have it tested. Depending on the material and temperature, having the material normalized before CVN testing may be desirable.

If the material requires impact testing your PQR will most likely need to be CVN tested as well.
