Hi,

I've done some stress analysis on a solid object, and the maximum stress point is not ot the visible surface.

How can I view a "slice", i.e. a cross section through the solid withthe stress plotted on it?

Use plot/erase. PATRAN does not have an arbitrary slice function.

Thanks,

Although I could see inside the object by erasing the outer face, the resulting surface slice was very rough (the shape of the 3D mesh inside).

Somebody has told me to create an isosufrcace, whichI have done by Results>Create>Isosurface.

I create the isosurface but don't know how to access and view it.

The isosurface is just a results display aid. It is not possible to view the isosurface independent of the mesh on which it is based.

Hello Adam

I think you could find very useful the utilities collected in the 'Insight' menu of PATRAN. You should first create some isosurfaces based on coordinates (your 'slices') and then plot a stress result map onto these isosurfaces. You can also make the isos move across the solid using the animation options.
Easier said than done, of course... after all we are still talking of PATRAN :) .
