I have a framing system of 8 story building. In which two columns are starting from 2nd floor. i have defined the column from beam and i assume that the all 6 story load reaction will be transfered to 2nd story beam with a heavy concentrated load. But i m not getting the reaction. ?

The remainder of the frame is most likely acting as a Vierendeel truss and picking up the load. You will only see the full concentrated load if all of the beams are pinned on both ends.

WillisV,
It is interesting that you mention a vierendeel action. I am curious to know from the OP if it is a transfer beam with flat slab all around it or a framed system with beams and columns.

Only when you mentioned vierendeel, did the flashbulb go off. I had never thought of beam-column frames acting as a vierendeel.

my framing is beam column type.

I have to picked up the coulumn due to drive way width at lower floors.
