Dear All,
I am right now looking for some pumps attached in parallel to a header I want to calculate the surge in startup of pump to cater the hammering in the header

Syed, I don't think there is any easy way ro do this other than a full transient analysis. There are so.many variables it is not easy to calcualte.

Is this anexkating Pdroblem or anew set up?

Install a pressure transmitter on the pipe and data log the pressure surge. You will need a data logger that is capable of recording instantaneously, not one that samples once per minute.

The data loggers are not expensive:

You might also investigate soft start systems for the pumps.

What type of pump and what power rating do the pump's have.

Sounds like you're starting a pump against a low head. Try changing the start sequence and start against a closed valve.

Rather than trying to assertion surge pressure on start, you should be investigating how to reduce surge pressure.
Would suggest more detail is required for meaningful answers.

It is a capital mistake to theorise before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. (Sherlock Holmes - A Scandal in Bohemia.)
