How do you organize your piping registrations?

I'm curious about what other companies do. In Ontario the TSSA gives P numbers (CRN) for the registration of piping systems, how does your company keep track of their P numbers (and addenda)? A simple spreadsheet? If it's a spreadsheet what columns do you have?

You might not believe it but there are people out here that do not live and work in Ontario or for your Company or your specific Clients.
So please define:
- TSSA = ?
- P = ?
- CRN = ?
- Example of the kind of information you think you need to list?

I guess I could have defined my question better. I am aware that there are people outside Ontario, or who don't work for my specific company etc...I'm not new to piping.

I wrote "Ontario" and "TSSA" etc. in my post to solicit responses from people who deal with this information. I'm just looking to draw on other peoples experience as to what information came in handy to keep in one spot over the years, how much detail they kept, or if anyone even bothers keeping a formal/informal list of their registered systems. You can view this question with the same lens as someone asking how people come up with their line numbers for their individual plant piping line lists. I'm just trying to see how people organize their information (or if they bother).

I recall a spreadsheet that one company I worked for had a summary of P Numbers for their various clients, I can't remember what other information they kept on there. Another company I worked for had a word document in some unknown directory that was a kind of adhoc list of the various P numbers from around the plant and what service they were linked to (ie high pressure steam).

I'm just trying to get an idea of what other people do with their information and how they organize it.

I appreciate you taking the time to try to find the answer, but line numbers and line lists are not what I'm looking for.

I'm thinking the most succinct list of information would be Drawing Number, CRN (Canadian Registration Number), Drawing or Project Title and maybe the date of registration. The kind of questions I am looking to answer are along the lines of "Is there any value in keeping track of the date?" "Do (Ontario or Canadian) people make a separate column in their drawings database to include the CRN/P Number for the drawings that are registered or do they keep a separate file?"

This is probably more of a database design question, but I have my doubts that people who are versed in database design would know about registering piping systems, and I'm more interested in the end user feedback as to how much information is sufficient.

Kacarrol,

Piping CRN (or P-number) is usually registered to the plant's owner. I think, the best way is to have Excel spreadsheet to have Line List database with all relevant information including P-number.
