Working on a large industrial project with horizontal trusses at the roof instead of using steel deck diaphragm. Designed with wide flange chords and diagonals and planned to use top and bottom gusset connections to the flanges. The roof slopes 1/4"/foot so would it be better to skew intersecting beams and column cap plates the 1/4"/foot or just try to use shims?

Thanks,

The connections should be parallel to the roof slope, that is, parallel to the rafters. For horizontal trusses, it is more usual to use CHS or SHS sections, with slotted fin plate connections, stiffened if required.
