Honda Speedometer

I have a 1994 Honda Civic with a manual transmission. Lately the speedometer has begun to work intermittently although there are no other driveability problems. I don't see a speedometer cable anywhere so I assume this car uses a vehicle speed sensor for the speedometer. Does anybody know how I could identify and check this sensor?
