hi, I am a new engineer working for a german car company. My current assignment is to analyse a model. I need to create a 3 layers model with steel-plastics-steel, namely a sandwich model.
I midsurfaced my model created in CATIA V5, using 3d(pannel)->element offset(subpanel) buildup a solid layer with a given thickness. Also at the other side of the solid layer I need buildup a shell layer with connectivity to the solid layer.
I tried shrink, layer offset (both in 2d panel), imported to Abaqus/CAE, using section select to check out that the 2nd layer never exist.

Sorry for my poor english, I really appreciate if some one can give me a hand or even a hint.

stupid question, I worked with my bad model (which I thought it works) for 2 days. Found out the problem this noon because the results seem wired.
I correct the model. first use 2d->ele offset create a shell layer, then use 3d->ele offset to create a solid layer. In abaqus the graphical model looks good. I will do test now.

Perhaps you could also post this in the Abaqus forum... you'll probably get more tips there!
