Helical Spring along Curved Path: any method?

Can anybody tell me a simple method of creating a helical spring along a curved path. The method explained in the knowledge base is tedious.

Hello,
If you are using release 2000i^2 or 2001, I can problably send you a generic spring model that we use. You could use this model, or look at how it was made and create your own.

This is probably a better technique than the one you looked at.

Basicly you create a surface sweep along your trajectory and project a curve onto the surface. Then you sweep a circle around this projected curve. Hide the surface with layers.
