I am after the heat transfer rate for water spray cooling of aluminium castings, which of course is impact density and casting temperature dependent. [sig][/sig]

I was submitting a tender for a system to cool alloy wheel castings and wanted to work out how much water to spray onto the castings with which type of nozzle so I could price the system. it was also very time dependent as only a short distance was available & production rate high. I though spray cooling would be more controllable and faster than donking the wheels into a water bath, which also presented conveyor related problems.

I found cooling rate vs impact density info was available for steel castings, but not for alluminium.
