I am currently working on a furnace design where I want to use the heat loss through the walls of the furnace to preheat the combustion air before it mixes with natural gas. Therefore I am looking for information or knowledgeable people how might be able to help me develop a heat exchanger that would be specialized to this particular application.
To elaborate: The furance is fairly small but very high temperature. I am sort of working with an annular space where the crucible and layers of refractory are on the inside and then some sort of system to extract the heat surrounds the furnace (the designed heat exchanger). I know that a heat recouperator would be an easy way to preheat the air but that is not the way I want to go. The furnace will be part of a system and the flue gases will be used for other energy generating applications (ideally a steam boiler to a turbine generator which will produce electricity for our other applications thus eliminating our need to draw from the grid).
Typically in engineering there is one book for every subject that is considered the "bible" for that subject my goal right now is to find that information so that I can do the research, and learn all I need to know to properly design my specific heat exchanger.... Can anyone help me?
Thank you in advance for all your suggestions.
