Has anyone used soil nail in a vertical manner for stabilization?

I am looking for information pertaining to soil nails installed vertically to stabilize the failure plane of a soil wedge. The project I am working on has limited access to the face of the wall because it is mostly under water. If anyone knows if installing soil nails vertically across the failure is effective please let me know.

I doubt that soil nails would be very effective in the verticle mode. Can you install gabions?

I'm not confident either. Chameau and Hassiotis have a methodology for pinning slide planes:

The problem you run into is that the bending moments in the piles get huge.

If you've got a failure plane that's rotating under a wall, you might try anchoring the wall with tie backs.
