ASCE 7-05 Section 4.7.2 required that hangers supporting floors or balconies be designed for 1.33 x hanger load.
ASCE 7-10 Section 4.6 deleted the requirement that hanger loads be automatically increased by 1.33. (Section 4.6.1 still requires that impact forces be considered.)
Am I missing something? Was the automatic 1.33 impact factor for all hangers deleted? It never really made sense in ASCE 7-05 (and earlier) because the requirement was specified in Section 4.7.2 “Machinery”, but the wording implied that the 1.33 factor was required for all hangers for floors and balconies regardless of whether or not there were machinery loads on the hanger. We always increased our hanger loads by a factor of 1.33.
