Grout in Concrete Pour

My civil guy is going to be making a pour tomorrow and wants to know if he can use the yard of grout ordered to prime the pump and place it in the corners of the slab that will be filled with concrete. He said it was 'honeycombed' - it is not, but it is a bit uneven. The rebar is in place, with epoxy, and of the right number and grade of bars. I have looked through my code books and cannot find anything particular; however, I keep thinking about something I was told a long time ago about not repairing (so to speak) one product-concrete with another-grout. Anyone?

The grout will be 8" to 1" slump IF it is actually grout.

I would tell him to use the grout elsewhere and make the entire pour from the approved mix and not take on the liability for using something different than approved.

Thanks, Dick I had already gone with my gut and told him to take it to the washout pit All the pours have gone well-no sense in starting a bad trend.

Ditto - never dump the grout into the formwork. Don't believe the contractor's BS that he can vibrate it into the mix.
