The standard flanges in HP Urea loops are lens rings per DIN standard.
However, our pipefitters prefer to use ANSI RTJ flanges, as they find them easier to assemble. In this case the best practice recommends making saw cuts in the rings, to have only one point of contact to the flange groove and avoid crevice corrosion.
Does anyone use this kind of rings? We never used them before and never had any problems in 40 years of operation.
