Good overview of paper industry technology?

I'm a new facilities engineer at a paper research/manufacturing facility and want to get up to speed quickly on paper industry technology. Tappi has a $500 online course but I was looking for something cheaper. Any suggestions?

I was going to recommend Tappi after reading your first sentance. USD 500 is really not very expensive if you are serious about your work.

Learning as you work is also a good way. "Instant expertise" doesn't work very well.

Good luck in a business that was, is and will be, very exciting. Been there since 1963. And still love it. Papermaking is one of the crafts where people need to know the art to succeed.

I can't speak for the current versions but some of the older versions of B&W's STEAM book had a decent description of the kraft and acid processes.
