Genetic Engineering AND Organics

In my country (New Zealand)there is considerable debate at present over the introduction of genetically engineered crops and animals. News articles will interview organic farmers on their views, as if organic farmers are directly opposed to GE. From my point of view, the most efficient and environmentally friendly form of farming would be a combination of genetic engineering and organic practices.

Does anyone agree?
