For those who have experience designing custom electronics devices and enclosures for industrial and military applications please respond.

We are designing a custom enclosure that will be air cooled. We don't have a specification for filtration but know it will be in an environment where the unit is subjected to a lot of dirt and dust we would like to specify a filter.

Does anyone have any guidance on specifications for particle size or other criteria? Any good web sites of vendors that supply filters or fans for harsh environments.

Thanks in advance for your response.

P.S. I'm already looking at ebm-papst, rotron, and sofasco.

mechengdude,

Try Laird Technologies and Tech Etch. Both companies make filters for EMI and dust. I did not check out particle size, but I did look into airflow head loss.

A lot of their filters are compatible with each other, so you have a second source.
