The 9th edition of the Standards of the TEMA recommended good practice section of Section 5 Mechanical Standards TEMA Class RCB (RCB-10.7 Design of Large Diameter Ratio Shell Intersections Subjected to Pressure and External Loadings) offers stress equations based on the Pressure Vessel Research Council project 99-PNV-01TM by Koves et al. (2004). This section determines shell stresses in both the nozzle shell and the heat exchanger shell based on external loading values specified by the heat exchanger designer. The 10th edition (2019) removed this section entirely. I cannot find a justification for the removal. Can anyone offer an explanation for the deletion?
