Explosive Decompression on a Composite Rod

Dear All,

Does anyone have any experience in how a composite rod (aramide or carbon with a poly or epoxy resin) of about 4-6mm diameter will behave when exposed to explosive decompression. And when I say explosive decompression I mean from 10K psi to atmospheric in well under a second.

It will be exposed to various gases such as CO2 at high temperatures for extended periods (4-24 hours) before the pressure drop so there will be plenty of time for the gas to permeate the rod.

Any feedback will be appreciated.

Regards,

John McGrath
