I would like to know what should be done if the resins are accidentally exchanged, i.e placing the cationic resins in the anionic drum and vice versa. Will it still be possible for ion exchange to take place? Will it be possible for regeneration of the resin to occur?
The demineralizing chain is one in which regeneration is done in counter flow.

The resins would have to be removed and reinstalled in the correct ion exchange vessel. That would be the most simple solution.

The ion exchange process will not work with the resins in the incorrect vessel as the resins are different.

Actually that is what was done.
Thanks
