Enabling Measuring Tool on eDrawings

I'm having trouble enabling the measuring tool on eDrawings. When I save a Solid Works file as an eDrawing, I click on Options and enable the measurement tool but when I open eDrawings it still doesn't allow me to take a measurement.

Any solutions?

Are you using the Options in the Save As dialog from SolidWorks? I just had this happen to me a couple of weeks ago (I was just hitting the eDrawing button on the toolbar) and found out I need to go to File > Save As > and then select an eDrawing format (part, assembly or drawing) where the Options button would then be present. In that button, I could reset the standard options for my eDrawings files.

After that, the toolbar button remembers the Options settings and works great until I want to change the options back to disable measure or disable export to STL format, etc.

You have to have eDrawings Pro.

If you do have Pro, then after you create the eDrawing, open the file and look for a button called 'Simple UI' or something like that. Toggle it back and forth and see if the Measurement becaome available then.

If the edrawing is saved from SolidWorks using save as and setting to *.eprt under the options you can enable measure. If you do this, you can open it in the base edrawing package and measure.

CBL,

Is the enable measure option greyed out in the "save as" options when you save the edrawing from the original SW part or just when you open it in edrawings?

The selection is available in the "Save-as" option of SW07 and may well work for eDrawing Pro, but does not with the free eDrawing basic package (on my machine anyway).

I have edrawings pro on the machine that I saved my test drawing on. I then installed edrawings basic on a seperate boot and opened that drawing and was able to measure. With that I would say that when saving the edrawing to enable measure you need pro on that machine. Once you've saved it with a pro seat and measure enabled you're able to measure with a basic seat.

That's true--my clients do this all the time with the free viewer download. The options just need to be set and saved by me before sending the file to them.
