I have recently constructed a replica flint lock mechanism, as used on ships such as the Victory, to fire cannon, I have made the frizzen from EN24t, as I had some in stock, but cannot get it to spark when struck by the flint, is this due to the composition or hardness of the steel,I suspect it is due to the composition of the steel, if so, has anyone any ideas on a suitable steel to use.
