Dust ingress testing

I have a requirement to test some components (oil pressure switches) for dust ingress to IP6 rating. Now I know it is done using talc powder that is pumped through a chamber in which the units are placed. The design of this chamber is a mistery, and I can find no information about this on the web. Is there anybody out there who carries out this type of testing and will give me information on chamber design. Thanks Geoff

Environmental testing is done by a number of labs including CSA, UL, ETL and many others if you just look under environmental test labs. But if its their business, why would they tell you how to test and how to design a box? Some of the information you can find in the original IEC 589 IP 65 etc., or its north American equivalent NEMA / ICS National Electrical Manufacturer's Association's NEMA Enclosure standards that are made for weatherproofing. There is probably an equivalent ASTM standard too.

Check "control engineering" or "ISA" for source of suppliers.
