Does anyone know of a "simple" method that's more than a rule of thumb for determining the required capacity of a sump pump for a drain tile system serving the perimeter of a buildings foundation?

If you are dealing with a subsurface drainage problem (i.e. a dewatering system) you are dealing with a complex system. There is no "simple" answer.

Give us more details - we'll try to point you in the right direction.
