drafting crosshatch not matching assigned materials

We have a little down time so I'm trying to up the game a little. A test block was assigned the material of Aluminum 6061, visual properties for the material it shows the crosshatch pattern is Aluminum/Magnesium, so everything should be set there. However, when placing the block in a drawing and running a section view through the block it comes out as steel (well, everything does). A quick look at customer defaults didn't find a setting to change the crosshatch type, just the crosshatch distance. Another run through the Siemens site and online in general didn't provide any answers either.

Am I missing something or is it even possible to inherit the crosshatch pattern from the assigned material?

I have to update my tag line, using NX1980 in native mode.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You bring up a good point, but I don't think there is a way to assign crosshatching to the assigned material.
There are some companies that adhere to strict crosshatching standards, while others do not, so that may be why it is not available.
I do not think you are missing anything here, but I assume there is a way to do what you want with some programming.
Maybe Siemens can put this in their queue on enhancements for NX.

In the old days the "steel" hatching was the default for everything. Other materials were mainly used if there were multiple materials in a section through an assembly. You have to look at the titleblock to check the base material/alloy anyway so it didn't cause much trouble otherwise. Also, some details end up being too small for the crosshatch to be clearly displayed anyway.

The image is from assign material>inspect on the material assigned to the block, it shows there is a hatch style assigned to material. It seems someone started this function at least, not sure how to go about checking to see if someone has already submitted an enhancement request so I can add my vote.

I am afraid that the assignment of crosshatch is connected to the NX Coating application, ...
I had a discussion on the S forum about connecting render material to physical material, which also is in that menu , but , only in the coating application.

I am annoyed about this , it's something we have been asking for , for more than 20 years, and then some moron decides that it's only when you run this application.

Tomas

Thanks Toost, good to know. It's been a long time since I participated, are there still enhancement requests we can add our vote to for added weight? This is something less capable cad systems seem to do out of the box.
