I am trying to figure out information for rebar in tension (vertical rebars connecting an existing concrete slab to a new concrete section on top). The tensile strength of grade 60 bar is 90 ksi and the yield strength is 60 ksi based on Table 2 of ASTM A615-16.
Currently, I am looking into some work where it is stated that ACI uses 0.75Fu > 0.9Fy, which is 0.75(90 ksi) = 67.5 ksi > 0.9(60 ksi) = 54 ksi. Appreciate your input where in ACI this might be in, I have not been able to locate this information.
Also, based on this information it is being stated that Appendix D in ACI will not be used. Does that seem appropriate?
Thanks
