How can I add a dimension in an aligned section view, without having to perform tricks (like adding hidden points) to avoid the following message:
"A dimension cannot be created between the two halves of an aligned section view. The dimension value would be projected in the section view and may not reflect a valid value." ??
I understand what SW is complaining about, but I don't like it that I am not offered the option to place the dimension anyway. Am I missing something obvious here?

All i could find on the forum is :

no answer there though... anyone?

Using SW 2007 SP5...

SW has named the section views poorly. What SW calls an aligned section view is something different from what you're thinking. What you need to do is draw the two lines that you want, then draw a circle concentric to their vertex. Trim the two lines inside the circle, then trim the circle so that it's connected to the two lines by the shortest segment. Then do a regular section (not an aligned section). It will then behave like you expect from an aligned section view.

Hi H'man,

thanx for your help.

Eh... I tried your tip but it doesn't do the trick. What it does is generate a sectionview in which only one half is shown correctly. However it uses the same viewing angle for the second half of the section (Not perpendicular!), resulting in a deformed view of the second half that I cannot use.

I so appreciate you helping me, but unfortunately I am still using SW07 (09 will arrive in a month time though) :(

so sorry for that...

Wow.... it worked....
How come I didn't think of that ;)

Thank you very much for this valuable tip.
