Deflector Plates 1

I am working at the deflector plates on each end of the drum and were wondering if the plates have to be bent to fit the curvature of the heads or can we just miter the corners of the plate and fit it into the head as a flat sheet. In addition to miter corner of the plate, slots is provided at the center to weld between heads. It would take some time and extra cost to fit the curvature of the head because it would take another head essentially to get the fit right.

for a good workmanship job, it should be pressed to ""generally"" follow contour of head.

Yes, it does take time & money to do a job correctly.

If someone make a cardboard template of head curvature in the vertical direction, it could be pressed that way and pressed a little in the horizontal to fit better.

Considering the size I think you have some attachment and other problems either way you go.

Have you looked at a thicker head or a change in MOC?

Can you come back with some more dimensions like the nominal thickness of the head and size of the nozzle, etc?


What is the primary purpose of the baffle, erosion,corrosion ?

MOC and Process fluids?

Personally I would go with head dome, head without knuckle and flange basically a dollar plate. But this creates crevice and attachment problems.
