We have a Zeiss CMM with Calypso software. I had some experience on a B&S using PC Dmis software. In PC Dmis when you wanted to run multiple parts you would run the manual alignment on the first part and then after that you did not have to do any more alignments as long as the succeeding parts were "close" to the orginal part set up. We can not figure out how to do this in Calypso.
HELP!!!!

We have the same situation with our Mitutoyo CMM.
What we do:
1. We have 2 (90 degree to each other) index bars bolted to table. We know where they are at to machine axis (and the table Z). 90% of what we do can index off of those bars.
2. Index product to bars. In our software, we turn off the canned routine manual alignment. Then we take points on features as needed to create aligment, in a lot of cases we can drive them via commands. Use the alignment commands to create product axis.
3. Verify alignment, then go inspect features of product, by using CMM commands.
4. Index next part, tell it to repeat program.

A little more hassle up front 1st time, but then you don't have to do manual align on every product after that, so, works for us.
