Hello,
I work in a small family company. We manufacture a part of a more complex device that comprises of a pipe with four outlets. We make this part by means of cutting holes in a surface of a 'main' pipe at an angle and gluing short outlets. Unfortunately, this technology is rather labor intensive ant therefore costly. We are thinking of converting to blow moulding. However, due to the fact that the number of parts that we need to manufacture per month is rather low in the standards of the technology that we want to introduce (around 200 pcs a month, presumably more in the future), we would like to elaborate some sort of manual variation of blow moulding technology where we could load the heated preform without any external machinery, to the form that we would also like to have made by workshop methods. Otherwise the investments would be too high for the volume that we need.
After removing the blown part from the form, both of the ends would be cut off. I would like to point out, that the part that I need to manufacture does not need to be perfect in terms of dimensional accuracy- minor imperfections are acceptable. Please see the initial design of a new part in the attachment. The main dimension is L=1000, fi=150, the preform that we want to use is the 5 gallon bottle type. What are your impressions as for the technical feasibility of such a technology or suggestions for the design/ pump performance? In many videos showing the course of the blow moulding process, a rod stretching the preform from the inside can be seen, will it be necessary in our case?
