Dear Friends,

We have been requested to design a cookie feeder for a chocolate bathing machine. Our design includes a large tray, 1600x820mm, with a 10% slope towards the direction that we want the cookies to move. The tray will be made in Stainless Steel 2mm thick, and will be moved by a vibrator similar to the one used at vibration feeders
Including the reinforcements, the tray will weight around 40 to 60 kgs. We are thinking to place the vibrator on the rear part, close to where the cookies are fed, and use some kind of suspension system at the front.
What we do need to know is
1 How to calculate the maximum acceleration, and thus deduct the force applied on the tray. From this force we will calculate the reinforcements to avoid buckling and fatigue failure.
2 How to select the right vibrator size. We would like to use Eriez brand, but they seem not so slanted to share their knowledge about size selection; due to that, we can accommodate alternative manufacturers.
3 We understand that there is some relationship between the tray weight, and the vibrator motor weight, and that there is a “correct position” for the vibrator to be mounted, related to the center of mass of the system
4 We have been told, mainly by Eriez, that this tray design is not as easy as it seems: it may break, it will buckle, it won’t work. Your opinion and ideas about the system would be much appreciated

Thanks for your help!!
