Hello all,

I am trying to get a Controllogix PLC to communicate with a Red Lion G3 touch screen via Ethernet. There are step by step instructions to follow in the attached link, but I am not able to get the PLC to talk to the Red Lion.

See page 4 of the link - I successfully install the module into the backplane and enter the IP address. When I add the "sub-module" Ethernet-module G3-HMI and run the PLC, the "sub-module" faults out and gives a Connection Request Error.

I can ping the Controllogix with success, but I can't ping the G3. I can use all the help I can get on this one.

Thanks,

Mike

Goto or call Red Lion. We have found Red Lion support to be very good. They also monitor the forum.

I looked at the documentation and it looks correct. We make a n Ethernet/IP compatible product that we know works with both the Red Lion and the Rockwell Control Logix. There shouldn't be any problem as long as you get the subnet and masks correct.

Can you use bootp/dhcp server to assign the G3 an IP address? Also in your input and output configuration of the G3 did you use the manuals 2 and 2 for the size? If so is that what the G3 is configured for or not?

jde77 - I am not familiar on how to assign the G3 an IP address from the bootp/dhcp server.

As for you last question, I configured the G3 exactly per the instructions in the link.
