Hello: I've been having problems connecting to a Panelview 550 we have currently at the plant. I was using a RS232 cable. Then I was told that I needed a Null Modem cable, so I bought the Null Modem adapter for my RS232 and still am unable to connect. How do I set up this Null Modem cable on Linx? Do I set it up like any normal RS232 cable. Can someone help me out with some procedure to connect. I'll appreciate your help.

PanelView requires "straight" serial cable, not regular crosslinked null-modem cable.
But a regular null-modem cable may be used with a null modem adapter, resulting in straight connection.
Eventually, the connection should be 2-2,3-3,5-5 for 9-pin connectors.
The PanelView communication settings must match the PC port (RS Linx) settings. You may use the Autoconfigure feature for DF1 driver.
Also, the PanelView may be configured for DH485 protocol- try the PIC driver in RSLinx.

You must identify the firmware version your Panelview contains and select it before you can communicate with the Panelview. Took me ages to figure this out many years ago. I'll be honest and say I can't exactly remember where the setting is because it has been a while since I used one - hopefully someone else will jog my memory.
