Thank you for your interest in the new upcoming features in
COMPRESS Build 6250. Some new features that will be included in the new build are:
1. The ability to specify split nozzle reinforcement pads for nozzle types 2, 4, and 8. This new feature functions as outlined in ABSA Information Bulletins IB-05-004 and IB-05-005.
2. The ability to create a skirt with user-defined material.
3. As Tom has mentioned in an earlier thread, an integrated method of generating ASME "U" forms from the COMPRESS data and user input. Here is a direct link to the thread:
There are many other items that are being considered, but we currently have not finalized which items to include until the new build is released. When the new build is posted, I suggest going to the Download section of the Codeware website and selecting the COMPRESS History document to see a full list of the new features and bug fixes for COMPRESS Build 6250.
Bruce, Thank you. The user-defined material for skirts has been asked about for a long long time. Many users will appreciate this feature.
Currently the ASME Code does not address the issue of split nozzle reinforcing pads. However, the Alberta, Canada board (Alberta Boiler Safety Association...ABSA) has placed some requirements on this type of construction. COMPRESS will soon incorporate a feature to specify that the nozzle pad is split, in which case the ABSA calculations will be performed.

I don't know if Codeware has many users in Mexico, but it would be very usefull for us if you include the Mexican wind and seismic codes (Manual de Comision Federal de Electricidad)
You mention that Compress is working on integrating information into a generated "U" form. This will be a great feature. A question for you and other forum readers:
What output will Compress be putting into the area describing how nozzles are attached? What would Compress users like to see?
I have seen completed forms that have a variety of descriptions. "D", "Welded", "UW-16", "Fig (c)".
Table W-3, line 48 gives a lot of lattitude in "...acceptable to the Inspector".
