I have a project we designed and detailed in wood, but now they need non-combustible construction. Long boring story. The roof trusses span 30'-0". We can get open web steel joists and deck, but the point loads resulting from the joists being 5'-0" o/c will be problematic, and the connection details between LSF and joists do not seem great. It was agreed to add steel beam lines, but I really do not have the time to redo the design. I was thinking I could suggest light gauge steel trusses @24" o/c, but I am not aware of any suppliers in Canada. I am not detailing them, so if I cannot find a supplier I will go with the additional WF beam lines.
